Canadian Idol Top 24: Adam Castelli

With last year�s Canadian Idol winner hailing from Steeltown, Adam Castelli has some big shoes to fill.

Castelli is versed in a range of music and can sing everything from Kanye West to Ritchie Valens to The Fugees. For this competitor, it�s all about feeling the emotions of the song and delivering that to his audience.

�I play live so I do all sorts of weird stuff and I like music of all kinds, like most of our generation does,� Castelli says. �I can do the R&B, what I like from that is that soul feeling -- it�s more just emotional singing.�

Castelli plays in a band and is used to getting up on stage. So for this self-taught singer and guitarist, being judged on what he does and has been doing for years was a little odd, but a great experience thus far.

�I�m not used to being judged.  When I play, I play full sets in one big shot.  It was pretty cool and they were cool, I wasn�t too nervous about it,� he says.

With influences like Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Cash, Castelli likes singing from the heart, which is something he doesn�t want to change. All he wants to do is be believable when he�s performing.

�You�re worried about performing well, but you�re also social so you�re meeting new people and a lot of cool artists here, so you�re sharing artistic ideas,� he says. �But at the same time it�s work and it�s been totally up and down � I just want to represent myself well.�
