The minimalistic blue funk of New York's Liquid Liquid consisted nigh wholly of pleximetry grooves with a smattering of bass, addition congas, xylophone, and the occasional outspoken thrown in. The quartette consisted of Scott Hartley (drums, percussion section, talk metal drum), Richard McGuire (basso, rhythm section, pianissimo, guitar), Salvatore Principato (percussion section, vocals), and Dennis Young (percussion section, marimba, roto toms). The band released tercet EPs during its being -- 1981's Fluid Liquid and Serial Reflexes, and 1983's Optimo. The latter contained the track "Cavern," which became the basis for Grandmaster Flash's "White Lines (Don't Do It)." In 1997, Grand Royal Records released a appeal of those tercet EPs, addition a 1982 performance, Live from Berkley Square.
