Sharon Osbourne Told Simon Cowell to Sack Dannii Minogue
Sharon Osbourne quit the X Factor because Simon Cowell wouldn't fire Dannii Minogue, it was claimed today.
Fiery Sharon, 55, told Cowell he would have to give Aussie Dannii the boot if he wanted her to be a judge on the fifth series of the hit ITV talent show.
But Dismissing previous reports Osbourne quit after her hefty pay demands weren't met, Osbourne's former co-star and close friend Louis Walsh said that her decision to end her tenure on the show was because Cowell refused the former MTV reality star's shock ultimatum.
He explains, "It's not contracts or money, it's Dannii. They don't get on at all and she wasn't happy with the situation.
"Sharon has walked off, she's gone. Why didn't they give Dannii the boot instead?"
Walsh, who has guided the careers of Westlife and Boyzone, also revealed that he has not yet agreed to star in the new series -- because he is "devastated" by Sharon's departure.
He added to Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper, "I haven't signed yet but I am negotiating. It's a difficult situation.
"Sharon is a great friend, I talk to her everyday. She is devastated and so am I.
"I have absolutely no relationship at all with Dannii. I have no idea how she is feeling about all of this because I simply do not talk to her.
"I am going to miss Sharon greatly. The show won't be the same. Sharon is very very upset about all this. She loves the show and everything about it."
Ozzy Osbournes wife has made no secret of the rivalry between herself and Dannii, who made her debut on the show last year.
Rumours of behind the scenes fighting were rife and Sharon was said to have stormed into the Minogue's dressing room just before going onto the set and reduced Dannii to tears.
It was last week announced that Dannii, whose contestant Leon Jackson won the series last year, had been such a hit with viewers that she was given a 500,000 ($1m) pay rise when she signed her new contract.
