Spinoff For Gossip Girl In The Works

A spinoff based on the television show 'Gossip Girl' is currently in the works, with producers looking to create a new series based on one of the existing characters - or potentially, based on a new character to be introduced this season.

The new show may follow Taylor Momsen's character Jenny Humphrey to a new school, to follow the storyline in the original book series, which has the younger Humphrey sibling going off to boarding school and reinventing her image.  

A deal finalizing which network will screen the new spinoff has yet to be set in stone, however, U.S. network The CW - who broadcasts 'Gossip Girl' - has the right of first refusal with Alloy Entertainment, who own the book series and co-produce the show.
