New York alt-metal quartette Boiler Room was formed in 1996, featuring singer Chris Lino, guitar player Rob Caggiano, bassist James Meselsohn, and drummer Mike Meselsohn. The band gigged about the local nine scene for respective age, honing their material and operation skills, and broke through on local radio following a 1999 possibility slot for Orgy. Boiler Room eventually signed to Roadrunner, which was slated to tone ending their debut album, Can't Breathe, in the summer of 2000. However, the track record failed to come out later on several delays, and soon Boiler Room base themselves on the Tommy Boy label, which finally issued Can't Breathe in November.
